New Orleans Pelican all-star Brandon Ingram landed himself in hot water. When asked about his thoughts with his all-star teammate Zion Williamson, Ingram responded,
“I’ve never played with a player as talented as me. He’s a generational talent.”
This sparked ire among fans, who pointed out that Brandon Ingram used to be teammates with LeBron James on the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2018–19 season. Perceived as shade to the legend, a group of LeBron followers left Michael Jordan’s backyard to protest in front of Ingram’s apartment complex.
Steven A. Smith hopped on The Jump with Rachel Nichols to express his fury.
“Now, Brandon Ingram is a very dear friend of mine. I love that guy to death, I’ve gone on record multiple times to express admiration on how he stepped up his game in New Orleans”
Smith then proceeded to rip his good friend to shreds.
“But how dare. HOW. DARE. He disrespects the GOAT of basketball. HOW. DARE.
“You telling me that LeBron James, THE LEBRON JAMES, 4-time Finals MVP, 4-time MVP, 17-time NBA All-Star, 13-time All-NBA First Team, the perfect point forward, is not as talented as ZION? ZION?
“Oh my….I can’t even.”
Smith shook his head.
“This is BLASPHEMY! Zion has been in the league for 2 years and has only 1 all-star nomination! LeBron James has been in the league for 18 years! Ain’t nobody talking about some sophomore. I
“If Ingram wants to make that comparison, he should start by going back in time to tell Zion’s parents to conceive their child earlier.
“You can’t even put Zion and LeBron in the same league. Has Zion even made it to the playoffs? No disrespect to the man, but Zion is nothing more than a BONAFIDE SCRUB.”
Ben Affleck also felt the need to chime in on this serious matter.
“Look, I’m a Boston Celtics fan, so I hate Laker LeBron James with a passion. But I have to side with Steven A. Smith here. It is very unwise to put down the GOAT of Basketball just to show public support and appreciation for your teammate.
“During my marriage with Jennifer Gardner, I showed her every way that I appreciated and loved her. But I also took time to remind her that she is still nowhere near as talented, personable, athletic, and beautiful as my ex Jennifer Lopez.
“Gardner has not achieved the same success as the triple threat Lopez, and I made sure to mention that to her as part of my morning routine. I owed myself to my wife for telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.”
When asked if the constant comparisons between Gardner to Lopez led to their divorce, Affleck declined to comment.
